Christmas has a way of making us forget ourselves.
The laughter gets louder, the days get longer, the nights get shorter, and suddenly, we’re running on excitement instead of rest. Meals are skipped, water is forgotten, sleep is postponed, and our bodies quietly wait for us to notice.
But here’s a gentle truth we often overlook during festive seasons:

Last December, Kemi, a young woman living in Ibadan, had been counting down to Christmas all year.
She had plans — travelling to see family, attending church programs, visiting friends, cooking, laughing, taking pictures, and ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ on life. Her days were packed, her phone was buzzing constantly, and joy filled the air.
But somewhere between the long bus rides, the late-night gist, and the endless plates of food, Kemi started feeling off.
She brushed it aside.
๐ฐ๐’๐ ๐ช๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐, she told herself.
๐ฐ’๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐.
By ๐พ๐๐ง๐๐จ๐ฉ๐ข๐๐จ ๐๐ซ๐, her body was already sending signals — headaches, fatigue, dryness in her mouth, irritability she couldn’t explain. Yet, like many of us, she ignored them. There was too much joy to pause for discomfort.
Kemi’s story isn’t unique.
In fact, it’s very familiar.

Christmas is beautiful, and it should be celebrated.
But it also comes with changes our bodies have to adjust to:
◆ Altered sleep schedules
◆ Irregular meals
◆ Reduced water intake
◆ Increased activity and travel
◆ Emotional and social overstimulation
Our bodies thrive on rhythm and balance. When routines suddenly change, even for joyful reasons, the body responds.

And often, we don’t listen — because we assume celebration gives us a ๐๐๐๐.Connect For More Health Content Insights

One important thing to remember this season is this:
๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐
๐ ๐
๐๐๐๐’๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐’๐ ๐ช๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐.
It still needs:
◆ Rest
◆ Hydration
◆ Nourishment
◆ Gentle care
Ignoring these needs doesn’t make them disappear; it only delays the response.

Caring for your health during Christmas doesn’t mean:
◆ Saying no to enjoyment
◆ Avoiding festive meals
◆ Isolating yourself from loved ones
It simply means ๐จ๐ฉ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ฌ๐๐ง๐.
Drinking water even when you’re busy laughing.
Resting when your body asks and not when everything is over.
Eating mindfully, not mindlessly.
Checking in with yourself, even during joy.
Health isn’t cancelled by celebration.
It’s carried through it.

As we celebrate love, family, and the gift of life this season, it’s worth remembering that your body is part of that gift.
The same body that carried you through the year.
The same body that allowed you to show up, work hard, love deeply, and now celebrate.
Caring for it is not selfish.
It’s ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
๐๐๐๐.
This Christmas, let joy flow but let awareness walk with it.
Celebrate fully, but listen closely.
Rest when needed. Drink water. Breathe.
Because celebration isn’t a break from health
it’s an invitation to care even more gently.
From all of us at ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ก๐ฉ๐ ๐ฟ๐ค๐จ๐จ๐๐๐ง,
๐ Merry Christmas and may your season be joyful, balanced, and well.
